Felicity's Chocolate treat at AFC Player of the Year Dinner
Chocolatier Felicity makes it a winner after landing Dons awards event order.
Local chocolatier Felicity Macdonald has scored a winner after landing her first order from Aberdeen FC.
Her confectionary business, Felicity's Chocolate, is supplied more than 700 boxes of bespoke hand-made Belgian chocolates, her biggest order to date, for this year's Player of the Year Dinner, held on May 7th at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre.
Alford-based Felicity's Chocolate makes luxury chocolates and truffles using Belgian chocolate and locally-grown fruits, and specialises in printing logos and images onto the products to provide a fully customised service.
"We're supplying 730 boxes for Thursday's event, each containing four chocolates branded with sponsor MCI Electrotechnics logo," said Felicity. "We're delighted to have won this order — our first for a Scottish Premiership football club."
The Dons's shop at Pittodrie is now also stocking boxes of four chocolates branded with the AFC logo along with bags of chocolate buttons in four flavours.
Felicity launched her business in 2013 after she read an article about edible transfer printing in a magazine bought in an airport lounge, and drew on the organisational skills and discipline she gained as a Queen Alexandra's Royal Army Nursing Corps captain to get started.
She first tested the market with cupcakes topped with transfer-printed chocolates but quickly discovered that there was more demand for the chocolates on their own.
Now a skilled chocolatier, Felicity only uses top-quality Belgian chocolate for her range which is all manufactured at her Alford base and includes a variety of customisable shapes, lolly chocs, and seasonal designs.
She supplies both the consumer and corporate markets where her products are equally at home as wedding favours and personal gifts as they are as the finishing touch at a major business event.
Felicity's Chocolate was a finalist in the 2014 Grampian Food Forum Innovation Awards in the 'best new business with less than 25 employees' category, and also reached the finals in 2013.
Felicity now also runs Berry Scrumptious, a separate business she bought in October last year that specialises in bringing together farm-grown fruits and quality chocolate in a range of products including chocolate-dipped strawberries, berry fudge, and fruity truffles.
Daffy’s Chocolate Delights
We love gin and we love chocolate!
Gin and chocolate have both been around since pretty much the dawn of time.
Gin from Europe chocolate from Mesoamerica, with evidence of chocolate beverages dating back a day or two to circa 1900BC. Aztecs believed that cacao seeds were in fact the gift of Quetzalcoatl the God of Wisdom… we have seen that gin is indeed the gift of Daffy!
